Sandy is a buckskin mare (1988) by MI Reed McCue (by Reed McCue out of Joe Reed) and out of Charging Squaw. With Joe Reed on her papers she combines old Foundation lines (including Sugar Bars) with some of the greatest but not widely available thoroughbred lines by Depth Charge. She is not foundation eligible (FQHA ~ 82%) but her foals out of Ka Cee Smoker are eligible. Click here for Sandy’s Pedigree.
Sandy is most likely not broken to ride but she sure has nice movements and knows how to carry herself. She is a chunk of a horse, stands almost 15.3 h and has very good feet. She is the Dam of Joanne VanBoekle’s great team penning mare that was the Winner of the 2002 Open Team Penning at Western Fair as a 3 year old! Another filly by Sandy won NCHA money! Her foals are known to be cowy and quiet!
She had at least 10 foals of which several were shown successfully and one mare even earned some money with the NCHA!
On the pictures above she is over 20 years old! She is a very charismatic mare! She now is getting too old to run around on the pasture and gets a little more quiet every year but she sure is a great mare to have around! To people she is friendly but she is not a mare that likes lots of attention - neither from humans nor from other horses; she pretty much does her own thing and is a very happy camper.
