Poca is a foundation bred chestnut mare (1998) by Freckles Oughta Doo (sorrel) and out of Poco Ruby Bars (sorrel). She carries the blood of Colonel Freckles, Otoe, The Ole Man, Pistols Bit, Poco Bueno and Doc Olena. She stands 14.3 h and is 87.3% FQHA. She is a good minded, honest horse that loves attention, is easy to handle and has much more speed than I expected her to have being so stout. She had 60+ days of professional training in 2006 but we mainly used her as a broodmare and gave her a tune up under saddle in 2009 and she is back under saddle now (August 2011). After that we were taking her out on a few trail rides and she is a nice mount: very responsive and naturally collected, she gives to leg cues easily and we rode her just in a side pull. If you ask for it you will get all the speed you’d want...! As she is not our best broodmare but such a great horse under saddle, we decided to retire her from breeding and use her only as a riding horse. Special about her is the sooty chestnut color combined with the flaxen gene: a very rare color that shows well. She is an incredible stout mare with lots of bone that could excel in all kind of rodeo disciplines!
